PARTHENON

The Parthenon sits atop the city of Athens, Greece.  Between the years 447 and 432 B.C. Pericles commissioned to have this temple built.  The architects Iktinos and Kallikatres designed and built the marble temple.  It was built to be a temple to worship the goddess Athena, for whom the city of Athens was named after.  It was a massive building which consisted of 8 columns on one side and 14 on the other.  Also built into the temple were friezes, which depicted many stories from Greek mythology.
